About KDØBIK

My name is Jerry Taylor and I live in Denver, Colorado USA.   I was first introduced to amateur radio by my uncle, David Evans K5SOR when I was a young child.  I have fond memories of watching him operate in his shack and looking at his QSL cards.

Like many, I struggled to learn Morse code as a young teenager and eventually gave up on the idea of ever getting my license.  However, this changed in 2007 when I did finally earn my technician license.  I upgraded to general class in Jan. 2008 and extra class in August 2011.  I do have plans to learn CW one day.

Besides a love for the hobby of amateur radio, I also have a passion for serving as an Elmer by helping and motivating others.  I started an amateur radio podcast titled The Practical Amateur Radio Podcast in 2008.  In addition to the podcast, I also publish blog articles on my two amateur radio blogs.  One is a general amateur radio interest blog and the second is devoted to SOTA or Summits On The Air.  A new podcast episode is released monthly and I try to release new blog articles each week.

My favorite mode?  I would have to say right now my favorite mode is still the digital modes.  I’m operating JT65 a lot lately but have also operated more RTTY in the last few months as well.  I also still very much enjoy PSK-31.  However, I also won’t turn down the opportunity to grab the microphone and operate phone.

I’m an ARRL Life Member, a member of the RSGB and also belong to the Tri-Lakes Monument Radio Association.
